Natural Disasters

The grade 5&6’s in SG and JK are learning about natural disasters. We had to become a expert in one natural disaster. I had chosen tsunami. (Did you know that tsunami means ‘harbour wave’ in Japanese? Tsu=harbour+nami=wave)

First we had to research about our natural disaster and fill in our charter with information. After that, we had to either make a poster or a PowerPoint about our natural disaster. Once we had all finished we shared our information with people who had different natural disasters so we could fill in the rest of our chart.

The other natural disasters were bushfire, flood, earthquake, landslide, drought and cyclone.

What natural disaster would you like to be an expert in?

Which natural disaster do you find interesting?

Have you ever been in a natural disaster?

Athletics

Thursday is athletics day for our school. 100 metre sprints and hurdles have always been my favourite, but I’m usually nervous before the race starts. I guess some people say hurdles are a pain, not for me. Though I do worry about tripping over!

The other events at athletics are long jump, high jump, discus, triple jump and shot put. All events are fun and challenging to compete in! Unfortunately I couldn’t go to Athletics day this year, but I was lucky to attend the previous years. Remember to have fun and don’t get too competitive!

When is your athletics day?

What are you favourite event(s)?

Have you ever came first in a event?
